Version 0.11.1

Fixes
  • A role is a mark before the name now: ☠ renegade, ⚔ reaper, ★ judge. Hover a mark and it says what it means.
  • The word no longer repeats on every line of chat, and the colon keeps its place.
  • The reapers tab spoke the council's words - "Stand for the council" on the reapers' page. Fixed.
The full list of changes

The marks

  • A mark before the name rather than a word after it: chat is scanned down its left edge, and nothing following a name of variable length lines up into a column.
  • Only the warning recolours the name. A reaper and a judge are offices, and an office is not an alarm; a person's name should look the same whoever they are, or you stop recognising people.
  • Over a head only the renegade is drawn. A name floating over somebody is read in a hurry, and the only thing that changes what you do in that second is the mark.

Why these marks

  • All three come from the game's crisp font, checked against the atlas itself. A character it lacks falls through to the fallback font - a different height and weight, and it reads as a rendering fault.
  • A judge wanted scales, and the scales are not in the crisp font. Hence a star.
  • The mark is itself a second cue beside the colour, and a stricter one than the word was: a skull is not a pair of swords in greyscale, while a word in a language you do not have is no cue at all.

Smaller things

  • Earning a mark now tells you so in words - a mark on its own teaches nobody.
  • The guide names all three marks, and reads them out of the code rather than typing them into a sentence.
  • Seating a reaper by command answers in grey: gold here means a seat is taken, and a console's reply looked like an event in the world.
