What the mod looks like from the inside, and what the world looks like. Screenshots of the interface arrive here as each system reaches the server.

The Polis interface

  1. 01

    Contracts

A draft binds nobody until every party has signed. Delivery, payment and non-aggression are watched by the code. So is collateral: breach the contract and the plot passes to the creditor. A promise is judged only by people.

Every contract's journal is kept for good
A non-aggression contract: the parties, the signatures and the log of what happened to it

    Land

One chunk is a homestead: free, untaxed, needing no organisation at all. Beyond that is city ground: 64i from the treasury and a progressive tax, so the bill lands on hoarding the map rather than on living somewhere. A city grows only along its own border.

A debt of 32i turns ground derelict — whoever settles it takes it
The land map: the chunk grid, players' homesteads and a city boundary

    Market and money

A global order book with escrow: place an order and the goods and the coin are locked already, so a matched trade can never fail to settle. The bank holds the account, strikes coin out of metal, and pays standing orders up to a ceiling you set yourself.

Commerce is mechanical; politics stays social
The market order book — the goods, and the prices they are offered atThe price history of one good, beside the orders to buy and sell it

    Trust

A profile made of facts alone: how many contracts signed, how many kept, how many broken, and who vouched for you. A broken promise lands on everyone who vouched.

Reputation is an archive, not a star rating
Trust is a count: how many deals out of how many were kept, and whether anybody vouched for the player

The world

The world has only just opened, so there are no real screenshots of it yet. They appear here once there is something to show.
