The world is made for good and is 250 kilometres across: the climate changes gradually with latitude, colder towards the poles and hotter towards the equator, and repeats every forty kilometres, so every climate is within reach.
No more floating islands, fantasy biomes or palms on a temperate beach, and ocean monuments stand at least two kilometres apart.
The Dark Zone's poisoned air holds no villages: settlements and peaceful buildings stand only in the Safe Zone, and past the line there are ruined towns, abandoned camps and the dungeons with bosses and trials.
The full list of changes
01Climate by latitude
Five climate bands run from pole to equator and repeat every forty kilometres: frozen, cold, temperate, warm and hot. Their edges wander like a coastline rather than a ruler.
Every biome that was here before is still here, in the band where its climate belongs. The hot band is the narrowest, because everything that grows that hot is desert.
Palms grow on warm coasts only.
02What the world keeps
Six fantasy biomes are replaced by the realistic biome of the same climate: the amethyst, moonlight, warped mesa and mirage isle biomes. Floating islands are gone.
The cobblestone monster rooms are gone everywhere; the dungeons that replace them stay.
Ocean monuments stand at least two kilometres apart and only in deep ocean, and underground ruins and camps are spread out.
Dungeons with a boss, a trial or a lair are found only past the line. The Safe Zone keeps its villages, taverns, ruins and towers.
