Version 0.18.0

Breaks compatibility
  • Things now weigh what they are. Food is light, stone, ore and metal are heavy, Create's machines and storage blocks heavier still. A fighting kit costs nothing; a trip full of stone costs the sprint; a packed backpack of ore stops you. Hauling in bulk is a train's job.
  • A load is a price, never a door: you can always mount a horse or a boat and fly an elytra, however much you carry.
  • Your load is a sign left of the hotbar, in your language, from half the first step: a pip once you cannot sprint, red once you are overloaded. The old English text in the inventory and the anvil over the hotbar are gone.
  • The air past the wall counts in seconds. A leaking room, a backtank or a mask no longer reads 0s for its whole last minute.
  • Every item from past the wall that a player can come by has its own creative tab, Past the Wall, so JEI lists them and their recipes.

The client has to be updatedThis release changed the pack, and a client older than it is turned away at the door. Update the pack in the launcher before you next join.

The full list of changes

Weight

  • Food weighs a half; anything not named weighs one; logs and ingots two; stone, gravel, sand and raw metal three; ore four; a tool eight; a Create machine ten; armour fifteen; a storage block nine times what it is made of - a block of ingots eighteen, of raw metal twenty-seven, a food crate four and a half - so compacting saves nothing. The relics are unchanged.
  • The first step, which takes the sprint, and the second, which takes the jump and the swim, are where they were.
  • An item that does not weigh one says its weight in its tooltip, and the stack's.
  • A backpack worn on your back counts, with everything in it, and so does anything else in a Curios slot.
  • Past the second step you cannot pick anything up while you ride. That is the price of overload: the horse carries the load at full speed, and you do not go on gathering.

Past the wall

  • The owner redrew the atmosphere's blocks and items at twice the detail - all but the scrubber, which is as it was - and the Lodestone Shard's needle turns again, towards the nearest cache in your layer.
  • The Backward Clock's sign has a new dial.
  • The layer marker no longer shows as a missing texture in the inventory's effect list. The Dark Zone sign already says how deep you are.

Updating

  • The client must update: a 0.17 client is refused at the door with a sentence saying which version to install.
