Breaks compatibility
  • A seep stands under an eternal flame: a tall ruined derrick with signal smoke, laid before anybody arrives.
  • Seeps are found, not stumbled on: the archive on the maps, survey maps in caches and a gas detector that smells sour gas.
  • A seep goes on the record only when somebody files a survey report; the first to file names it.
  • Oil sells by the drum, the market has an oil board, and contracts have presets for deliveries, carriage with a deposit, seep shares and survey sales.
  • Once a week the Heart breathes and the seeps flow double for two hours; each season the flow moves between a layer's seeps; a seep pumped hard draws the dead.
  • The web map now shows the Dark Zone out to Wall Maria, and the Safe Zone has common land nobody can title.

The client has to be updatedThis release changed the pack, and a client older than it is turned away at the door. Update the pack in the launcher before you next join.

Finding a seep

  • The Polis map and the web map show archive cells for Maria's and the Ash's uncharted seeps: a large area, never a point.
  • Deep and far caches sometimes hold a survey map marked near an uncharted seep.
  • The gas detector reads sour gas past the wall, stronger the nearer a seep is. It gives no direction.
  • The oil scanner says a drained seep has no pressure right now, not that there is no oil.

Putting it on the record

  • Stand in a seep's chunk with a survey notebook to write a report; file it on the witnessed side to chart the seep.
  • Everybody sees a charted seep's cell; the exact point goes to whoever charted it, their organisation and anyone who filed a report for it.
  • Standing on a seep no longer charts it by itself.

Holding and pumping

  • One pumpjack takes at most its share of a seep's flow, so a bigger plant means more taps.
  • Every seep has tap columns of its own and is always laid whole.
  • Tar, not crude, lies in the Dark Zone's lakes; crude comes only from a seep.

Selling

  • Drums of crude, diesel, gasoline and each fraction stack to sixteen and trade on the market and in contracts.
  • The oil board shows the week's draw against the caps and each drum's last price and volume.
  • A carriage term can carry a deposit the hauler gets back on delivery.
  • The weekly oil line names the most generous seep, new charts and the top haulers.
