New abilities

The client has to be updatedThis release changed the pack, and a client older than it is turned away at the door. Update the pack in the launcher before you next join.

  • Outposts: a sealed, served room past the wall becomes a named outpost with a charter post - public on every map, or private to its own people.
  • A muster cot lets a crew wake at its outpost instead of back home, for a muster kit and, for strangers, a price the keeper names.
  • A service counter sells from an outpost for coin; what it takes past the wall is paid home when one of its people returns.
  • Building out there is a craft: walls rated for their layer, airlocks against draught, heat against frost, grow lamps for crops, filters that can be regenerated.
  • Ash fronts cross the Dark Zone on a published table: the fog closes, the gas bites three times harder and unrated glass cracks. A barometer warns fifteen minutes ahead.
  • A wellhead's goggles name the seep it stands on, and every item past the wall was redrawn, the tools in 3D.
The full list of changes

Outposts

  • A charter post placed in a sealed room served for ten minutes charters an outpost; its keeper names it on an anvil and switches it public or private.
  • A public outpost shows on the in-game map and on the web map with its state and the air it had as of when it was last reported; a private one reaches only its own party's clients.
  • Nothing is told live out of the Dark Zone: an outpost past the wall is reported when one of its people crosses back, and its figures at most once an hour.
  • An outpost goes cold when its room stops being served, and derelict after two weeks cold; its charter re-arms when the air comes back.
  • A weekly line to the keeping party: guests, musters, sales, donations, filters and fuel burned. The gazette names the deepest public outpost served all week.

Muster and the counter

  • Using a muster cot binds your respawn to it. You wake there if the outpost stands, its room is served, a muster kit is in the cot's locker and, for a stranger, the cot's price is paid from your account - otherwise you wake where you would have, and are told why.
  • A muster kit is crafted at home and is heavy enough to be a cargo line.
  • A service counter holds nine priced slots; a buyer pays from their account and takes the goods. A slot with no price is a shelf anybody may leave things on.
  • A delivery term may name an outpost as where the goods go.

Building past the wall

  • From the Ash down, every face of a room's shell that is not rated for its layer costs filters; framed glass, casings and each layer's own rock are rated.
  • A door, trapdoor or gate standing open onto bad air burns the room's reserve fast, so an airlock of two doors saves filters.
  • From the Hush down, a scrubber with no heat beside it serves half as much.
  • A burnt filter leaves a spent filter; a superheated mixer turns it back into sulphur dust and sometimes a filter one tier lower. A running scrubber drips condensate water.
  • Past the Ash, crops in clean air grow only under a turning grow lamp.
  • A survey notebook held up in a served room past the wall writes a site report, filed at home.
  • An infirmary cot lets a patient lie by the lung pump in daylight, a beast respirator keeps a mount breathing, and eggs, spawn and mushrooms obey the air.

Ash fronts

  • Fronts of ash cross the Dark Zone from deep to shallow. They follow the world and the week, so /polis_atmos weather prints this week's table for anybody.
  • Inside a front the fog closes, ash falls and the dose grows three times as fast at its thickest.
  • A front cracks an exposed pane of glass, or tears wool, in a room's shell that is not rated for its layer; cracked glass lets the air through until it is replaced.
  • A barometer past the wall reads a front coming to where it stands: a comparator signal that rises as it nears, and the minutes left in the goggles.

Oil and the rest

  • A wellhead's goggles say which seep it stands on, by the code a contract names it by.
  • Filters fit only a scrubber that can burn them, a hopper takes out only the ones that cannot, and a scrubber keeps its anvil name when broken.
  • The public contract archive is asked for when it opens instead of riding in every snapshot.
  • Every item past the wall was redrawn - the gas detector, cutting torch, grease gun and sounding glass in 3D - and the outposts' blocks are new models.
